Varanasi, also known as Banaras is a city on the banks of the Ganges and it is the spiritual capital of India. It is one of the holiest cities in Hinduism.
This is my second visit to Varanasi. Last time, I went in 2013 in the month of December and climate was bit cold and water level on the Ganges are pretty ok to walk on the ghats.
This time, due to heavy flood in Uttarakhand and the Himalayan ranges, the Ganges was full of water and most of the ghats are in high water.
I knew it was going to be different and I also wanted a different photography experience than 2013. Surprisingly, there was a good sun light throughout my stay in Varanasi.
It was really challenging to take good pictures on the street since the streets are very narrow and very busy. Â I wanted to take the daily life of people on the street of Varanasi in my own way, representing Varanasi in little bit of here and there.
Some of the pictures taken during this trip.
Brilliant photographs. A great inspiration for all street photographers.
